We offer hundreds of assessments or can install company-specific software.  Testing is overseen by career center staff.

Customized Training assists businesses in increasing work skills.  This program is easy to use and helps employees develop specific skills to make an organization soar.  The Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center staff will work with a company to create a training plan; this service pays up to half the cost and gets a skilled productive workforce trained precisely the way the business requires, making customized training programs a “win-win” for employers and employees.

Incumbent worker training is designed to assist employers in providing their full-time employees with the skills necessary to retain employment or to avert layoffs while increasing both a participant’s and a company’s competitiveness in a high-demand sector. The Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center seeks to ensure that incumbent worker training is targeted to improve the skills and competitiveness of the participant and increase the competitiveness of the employer.

Internships provide a number of benefits to an employer who is willing to participate. The Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass/American Job Center provides the employer with an intern who is paid through the Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass for a limited time; academic and skills screening of select applicants, before being presented to the employer; and worker compensation is covered by us.

The laptop pool can be deployed to provide services to employers and their staff, as well as to provide on-the-spot classroom training, assessments, presentations, data processing, and web-based services in areas that would otherwise be difficult to provide these services. Laptops are available for use by businesses and agencies of the Bluegrass Region for workforce development purposes. They may be scheduled by private businesses for any approved event.

A company works with the Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center, our staff will locate an applicant who meets the employer’s criteria and is ready to work.  Our staff will then determine if the applicant is eligible for an OJT.  If so, staff works with the company to develop a training plan. Once the training is complete the Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center can reimburse a portion of the new employee’s salary to cover the company’s training costs.

Through the Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center, a business can post job vacancies.  These postings are made available to career seekers at all Career Centers and online. Each vacancy posted with us is reviewed to ensure it meets strict EEO standards. Applicants can be checked for basic qualifications before being referred to the business.  If that business prefers, staff will take the applicant through a predetermined screening process.

The first few weeks of employment are a tenuous time for many new hires.  Often, being unemployed has altered normal life for many job seekers, draining financial resources.  Rather than losing a new employee due to circumstances created by their unemployment, we offer solutions. We and our community partners can assist with transportation, childcare, housing, and emergency health services for employees hired through the career centers.

Employers can utilize several other specialized benefits that could reduce costs associated with hiring new employees.  There are a wide variety of programs designed to assist local businesses in hiring new employees and expanding operations. Our staff inform employers of the benefits their business can obtain as well as assist them with navigating the requirements.

The Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center also provides Tailored Recruitment, a service that will save valuable staff time by doing the searches for a suitable candidate. Staff can perform assessments on potential applicants, host job fairs and specialized recruiting, assist with writing job descriptions, and offer virtual interviewing capability. Staff offer office space for on-site interviewing and training.
