Academy for Continuing Careers, Employability, and Soft Skills (ACCESS)

ACCESS is a work readiness academy that will provide those who choose to commit to it everything needed to enter full-time employment and to keep that job. The purpose of this academy is to match you, the job seeker serious about finding a good job and keeping it, with employers who are looking for a great employee.

Bridges Out of Poverty

Participants will increase awareness of how economic class impacts life experience, resources and stability. Customer service and teamwork in business and community settings are improved. This seminar is based on the book Bridges Out Of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities a collaboration between Ruby K. Payne, Philip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith.

Family Childcare Training Program

Childcare is a high-demand field in the Bluegrass area. To assist in meeting this need, the Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center has partnered with the Child Care Council of Kentucky to assist those interested in creating at-home child care service, improve their current child care service, or learn more about the requirements of running a child care in Kentucky.

Putting Young Kentuckians First

The Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center is part of a new 2-year, $20,000,000 statewide initiative to place Kentucky’s 16–24 year-olds in self-sustaining employment.  Putting Young Kentuckians First is included in House Bill 1 from the 2024 Kentucky Legislative session. 


We are focused on assisting individuals 18-24 years of age with short-term training, work experience, on-the-job training, and other services to secure full-time employment that provides a livable wage.  

If you are between the ages of 18 and 24 and would like to begin a career immediately without wanting to pursue a two to four-year degree, then this initiative is for you!

Virtual Reality Device

Career Interest Simulations

The Kentucky Career Center - Bluegrass/American Job Center now offers career exploration and training through Oculus virtual reality headsets. Jobseekers can explore on-the-job scenarios and gain skills through simulated activities using these virtual reality headsets. 

 

Virtual Reality Provides:

  • Exploration of career opportunities

  • Experience in simulated work environments

  • Skill improvement that is industry-aligned

 

Virtual Reality headsets are available for use by appointment only. Please make an appointment to visit a career center location or to have the equipment brought to your organization or event by contacting our offices.
