CareerTrack Scholarship (Ages 18 - 24)

If you are eligible, Career Track Scholarships through the Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board can provide up to $7500 per year for tuition, books, and other supportive services for up to two (2) years.

In an effort to meet the ongoing skills needs of businesses in the Bluegrass Area’s labor market, the Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board has identified targeted industry sectors for which training may be available.  They include Advanced Manufacturing; Healthcare; Information Technology; and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics.  Types of training that are considered include programs leading to a certificate/license, diploma, or degree (an Associate’s degree or the last two years needed to complete a Bachelor’s degree).

To obtain training, individuals must be determined eligible for the program.  Eligible participants must follow requirements established by federal legislation and local procedures.  Eligible participants are also required to provide employment information to WIOA staff following completion of the funded training program.  Some of the scholarship requirements include that applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and is 18-24 years old.  Applicants reside in one of the Bluegrass Area’s 17 counties (Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, and Woodford). WIA is not an entitlement program.

In order to be considered you must complete all the steps listed below. If you fail to complete any step within five (5) days you will be notified. Once you have been notified if you fail to submit all required documentation your application will not be processed, and you will not be contacted again.

1. Make sure that you are registered in Focus Career.
 
  • You must register with Focus Career before any services are available to you through WIA. This allows you to be matched to job openings based on your skills and experience.
  • You must be entered in this system to be considered for the program. You can register online at https://focuscareer.ky.gov/career/ or at your local Career Center.
2. After registering in Focus Career, complete the application. (The application is available at this link.)
3. Once the completed online application has been screened you will be contacted within 5 days to identify the next step in the process.

 

Applicants should have an email address. If you do not have an email address there are several free email address providers available, including Google, Yahoo and Hotmail.
