Blending workforce development with economic development and higher education, Kentucky Teleworks is an innovative program that is bringing thousands of telework job opportunities to citizens in Eastern Kentucky and beyond.

Kentucky Teleworks actively recruits national and global companies to bring cutting-edge, work-from-home jobs to people through a computer- and Internet-driven virtual workplace. By doing so, it helps eliminate longtime issues with job creation, business recruitment, and sustainability in rural and largely underserved areas.

Started three years ago by the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. (EKCEP) as a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Kentucky Teleworks has created a virtual pipeline of employment to many communities across the commonwealth.

Its efforts have resulted in hundreds of rewarding and sustainable for people with national companies like:

  • Apple
  • JP Morgan Chase
  • Amazon
  • AT&T
  • Comcast
  • eBay
  • DirectTV
  • UHaul
  • and many more.

Through a collaborative effort with industry, Kentucky Teleworks will launch a comprehensive Telework Readiness Training program in late 2013, thus making the teleworkforce even better prepared for the challenges of the virtual workplace.

A dramatically revamped Kentucky Teleworks online database will also debut later this year that will allow people to do self-guided searches for telework opportunities, perform skills assessments, and create personal career profiles. Telework employers will be able to search these profiles to find the most motivated and qualified teleworkers.
