The mission of the Kentucky Office for the Blind is to provide opportunities for employment and independence to people with visual disabilities in their homes, schools, workplaces and communities. Services are tailored to each individual’s strengths, abilities and interests.
Individualized services for eligible applicants may include:

- Assistive technology
- Independent living and services for older blind people
- Orientation and mobility
- Bioptic driving
- Deaf/blind services
- Kentucky Business Enterprises (vending and food service)
Getting Started: One-on-one meeting
We start with a one-on-one meeting with you to provide assessment and eligibility determination. We go over your medical, social, financial, educational, and vocational experiences. Then we work with you to develop an individualized plan, offering guidance and counseling to help you reach your goals for employment and increased independence. Whether you’re looking for a job, training, assistive technology, independent living, business enterprises or other services, we can point you in the right direction and get your started.
